THE woman who helped her son have a baby AFTER he died has revealed that his daughter, aged one, is a “copy of her dad”.

Actress Ana Obregón may be 69-years-old, but she decided to become a mum again last year by using her son Aless Lequio’s sperm.

Little Anita was welcomed via surrogate last year on March 20 and has just celebrated her first birthday.

Her dad Aless died from cancer at just 27-years-old in May 2020 after a two year battle with the disease.

The digital marketing CEO froze his sperm before undergoing chemotherapy in hope he would one day become a dad.

According to Ana, it was still his “last wish to bring a child into the world”.

She decided to honour her late son’s wishes by finding a surrogate to carry his child.

The grieving mum took to Instagram to mark little Anita’s first birthday, dubbing her “a copy of her dad”.

“I can only thank you for filling my heart with light submerged in the deepest darkness and mutilated by immense pain,” Ana penned in a message to the tot.

“Thank you for your smile, your babbles, your crawls and first steps.

“Thank you for looking at me with the same love as your dad looked at me… never had anyone looked at me that way.

“You are a copy of your dad,  desired from that heaven that borders eternity.

“One day I will tell you how your dad was: noble, generous, brave, supportive, funny, loving, with a crazy girl tenderness that provoked love in all of us who were lucky enough to love him.

“And you will be the same, Anita.

“My little angel of light, you will blow the candle tonight in your dream with your dad while I hug you, dying of love.”

Ana put the wheels in motion for the conception of Anita shortly after Aless’ death.

His sperm samples were preserved in the US and Ana chose a surrogate based in the country,  as surrogacy is forbidden in her native country of Spain.

Anita was born in a hospital in Miami, US and is legally Ana’s daughter.

She hasn’t ruled out bringing more of her son’s children into the world via surrogate as it was his “wish” to have five children.

Ana gained popularity in the Eighties and Nineties for her roles in various Spanish TV shows and films.

However, following Anita’s birth, she found herself in the centre of a national media storm in Spain after revealing her use of surrogacy.

There have since been high-profile debates and discussions about potentially legalising surrogacy in the European country.

Supporters of the practise have argued for regulated and ethical surrogacy arrangements.

At present, it is effectively prohibited by Spain’s Law on Assisted Reproduction Techniques.
